Our Story

We met during a major transition in both of our lives. Maria had recently been laid off after 18 months in NYC and was planning to move back, while Josh was in physical therapy school and preparing for a clinical rotation in Las Vegas.

On our first date, Josh asked Maria, “What are your intentions with dating?” After agreeing that we were both dating with marriage in mind, we somewhat foolishly decided to go on a second date, despite Maria planning to move to New York and Josh leaving for Las Vegas in just a few months.

Several weeks later, Josh’s rotation in Las Vegas was cancelled and he was placed in Cortez, Colorado instead. For the next several months, Josh drove seven hours to Denver every other week for dates, while Maria drove halfway to meet him in random mountain towns.

Somewhere between the calls during the long drives, mountain adventures, and many laughs, we became best friends. Josh fell for Maria’s humor, joy, and playfulness, while Maria fell for Josh’s love for Jesus and people, his steadiness, and intentionality.

Looking back, what initially seemed like terrible timing feels like it was meant to be. We’ve truly felt God’s hand in every step of our relationship and can’t wait to make our commitment to each other in front of Him and the people we love on March 14th!
